Mrs. Leak’s Monthly Newsletter
Volume 2 Week 1 December 04, 2009
I cannot believe that we are already
into December. This year just seems to be flying by extremely fast. This month is very busy for us. We are practicing
for our Christmas concert, making cards for people that will be in the hospital or a nursing home for the holidays, as well
as our academic work.
You may have noticed students coming
home with different assignments. I have started enrichment and remediation activities
within the classroom. You may see two different assignments in a particular subject. Your child will know which homework they are responsible for completing. If at any time you feel that your child did not understand an assignment please let me know and I will
use another technique to reteach the lesson.
The New York State ELA Assessment will
be given in January. You will see grammar correction papers every night. We will continue to focus on reading and listening comprehension.
I would like to take this opportunity
to thank all the people who have already sent in gifts for the Franklin Community Center.
You are all so very generous. If you have not yet sent in anything, we
will be collecting items until Friday 12/11. On this day Mrs. Trish Kirbey will
collect them and bring the items over to the Franklin Community Center.
THANK YOU!!!!!
********************
We will be having a holiday party
on Tuesday 12/22 from 12:30 until dismissal. The homeroom parents will be contacting
you all soon. We will have crafts, games, music and food.
****************** Please remember that the students will be receiving strikes if they are not dressed in proper uniform. If you need a uniform dress code sheet please let me know and I will get one to you.
*** Please note that students must wear WHITE socks ONLY on GYM
DAYS.
Only BLUE tight/socks are to be worn on non-gym days.
Finally, NO COLORED NAILPOLISH.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
*******************
Please remind your child that it is very crucial that they try
and read every night. It is an assignment that is assigned every night. Please make this your child’s responsibility, NOT yours. However, if your child
is refusing to read please send me a note and we will have a discussion about why reading is important. Thank you.
The students need to read 25 books at their reading level by the
end of the year. They need to fill out an index card every time they complete
a book.
This month’s Book-It assignment is to read a holiday picture
book. They will have to illustrate a new cover for the book and come up with
a title. On the back of the paper they need to write a summary of the book. They can write the summary on a piece of paper, or index card. This should be attached to the back of the illustration. This
assignment will be accepted only until 12/18/09.
Thank you for your continued support.
I have been asked
by the office to please ask that your child is on time for school in the morning. There
are many children that are tardy on a regular basis and it really puts them at a disadvantage in the morning. I know times are very crazy in everyone’s life right now, and I appreciate your attention to this
matter. Thank you!
I do
apologize for my website not being up to date this past week. I have updated
it with all important information.
On
another note, if you feel your child is struggling with the homework, or anything else, PLEASE contact me as soon as possible. I am here to help!!
Again, I want to let you know that you may contact me anytime via email, which is posted on the St. Clement’s
website page. Just go to Faculty/Staff and click on classroom page. I am also available by telephone. If it is during the day
please contact the school at 584-7350 and leave a message. I will contact you
at my earliest available time. I have also given my home phone number, please
contact me only up until 7pm in the evening.
Thank you again for being so
loving, positive, and open with me about your children.
